Most students have become apathetic to reading by the time they reach middle school. This fact makes it even harder to encourage reading in our world language classrooms.

In this overview of reading in the WL classroom, we will discuss the following questions:
What are the benefits of reading? How does comprehensible input figure into reading? How can we structure reading to slowly build up their skills and reading endurance? Should we be using whole class novels? Free voluntary reading (FVR)? How can we bring back our students' love of reading!
